Using coupons in an ethical manner is something that I am passionate about. Three new counterfeit coupons have been identified in the past week. If you buy or trade coupons (via eBay, online discussion forums, etc), do not buy/trade for these coupons. Using them constitutes fraud (and while you may not end up as Bernie Madoff’s cellmate, sooner or later the stores are going to get annoyed enough that they start calling the police rather than just refusing to take them. You don’t want to be the coupon that broke the store manager’s back!)
The new counterfeits are:
$3 off a 12-pack of Coca-Cola: this coupon was made using a combination of Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson and Kraft coupons
$5 off Nivea body wash: unsure of the origin of the coupon
FREE Breyers ice Cream: this coupon was made without the hologram that Unilever (maker of Breyers) puts on all of their free-product coupons
As a reminder, if a coupon seems too good to be true, it usually is. While I do not buy or trade for coupons, I know that many people do. If you are unsure if a coupon is legitimate, check this list for known counterfeit coupons!
