Educational resources

I found this on One Cheap Chick and thought I would pass it on.

There are many different educational resources available to families with children. Three many people still don't know about:

1. Utah Virtual Academy. This is a tuition-free public school program for Utah parents who want to teach their children at home. It's similar to homeschooling your children, but you are provided books and a host of other resources. Children in this program also are given opportunities to meet other children being taught at home as well.

2. ChildrenfirstUtah. This organization provides financial assistance to low-income families who want to sent their children to a private school.

3. Upstart. I've blogged on this program several times. This free at-home preschool program created by the Waterford Institute and funded by the state is designed for 4- and 5-year-olds who aren't yet in kindergarten. It is designed for families of all incomes, although low-income families may be provided a computer on loan. This year's program is full; you can pre-register for a chance at next year.
