Holiday Meal Promos: Walmart Starts the Price Wars off with a Bang

Typically, Americans can expect to spend around .49-.99/lb for a frozen turkey around the holidays.
In 1986, the average cost of a Thanksgiving meal for a family of 10 was $28.74. In 23 years, you'd think that price would inflate considerably...
Or not.
This year, Walmart is rolling our their first big promo of the year featuring a Thanksgiving dinner for a mere $20. Part of that promo is selling frozen turkeys for only .40/lb! Yes, you read that correctly- only .40/lb.
While I think this price is pretty incredible, it's not unheard of for stores to offer customers a bird for around .25-.30...as long as they purchase a certain amount of other participating products. I imagine we'll begin seeing promotions like this very soon.
Seems many Utahans are already jumping at the chance to get the discounted turkeys. I was at Walmart last night and saw the infamous .40 turkey bins. Completely Empty. They had 3 large bins dedicated to the sale items and there were large signs posted that read, "limit two." I asked a couple employees when they'd be restocking and they couldn't give me a clear answer, but I imagine it will be often.
Go here to read all about how Walmart plans to ease the burden on shoppers this year.

Thank you, Utah Deal Diva.
